FAQs
How are RCI Gold and Silver Crown designations awarded?
RCI time share resorts are divided into Gold or Silver Crown designation, based on a number of criteria. Member comment cards at least in part determine these awards. Gold Crown resorts receive consistently favorable comment cards, factoring data in several categories. These categories include check in and check out process and ease; resort hospitality; resort maintenance; resort activities; resort amenities; unit quality; unit maintenance; unit housekeeping; unit amenities’ and overall vacation experience. RCI’s staff also makes periodic visits to resorts, as well as secret shopper services to ensure the quality of the resort is consistent with the comment cards.
What determines the Trading Power of an RCI timeshare resort?
When exchanging a resort through RCI, the vacation you deposit will hold a certain ‘trading power’, which allows you to exchange for a certain caliber of vacation. Trading power is determined base on the following guidelines: supply, demand, and usage of your home resort; supply, demand, and usage for your resort’s region; comment card ratings for your home resort; size and configuration of your unit; seasonal designation of your week; and how far in advance the week is deposited with RCI. These guidelines will generally make sense if you think about it—if you deposit your usage far in advance, RCI has a better chance to find someone interested in it, therefore it is “worth” more to them. Similarly, if you deposit a typically undesirable unit, for example a studio unit on Cape Cod in the dead of winter, you will not be able to exchange it for a two bedroom during Spring Break in Miami.
